The 8 rustic Parks Canada
camping sites of Fishing Cove are nestled at the bottom of valley, seen
here from the Cabot Trail. |
|
The little stream flowing
through Fishing Cove disappears under the stone beach before reaching the
sea. Two camping platforms are visible on the left.

Permanent residents of Pollett's
cove are long gone but it is now the Summer home of grazing cattle and
horses. Other more discrete residents are not so gentle. We heard the yapping
of a coyote family in the nearby woods.

The rocky coast line affords
few sheltered landing spots between Pollett's Cove and Cape St.Lawrence.
This one seemed to be designed just for two. |
A little farther, another
group of Pilot whales comes for a closer look. They are certainly not shy
and are very curious. They are easily recognized by their long and round
dorsal fin. |

On the North shore of the
peninsula, half way between Cape St.Lawrence and Cape North, the village
of Bay St.Lawrence has a sheltered harbor and a few houses.
